This month’s spotlight goes to Adoption Counselor, Janine Fleming.
1) What is your official title?
Adoption Counselor
2) How long have you worked at Thompson Dove Law Group?
10 years and with his father for 25 years.
3) Describe a typical day on the job.
I am on call twenty four hours a day, seven days a week to talk to birth parents who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and do not know what to do. I meet with birth parents and provide them with adoption information as well as alternatives to adoption. I take birth mothers to doctors appointments, to the grocery store, etc. It is a privilege to be able to build relationships with these birth mothers and listen to their situation. I sometimes provide a helping hand in labor and delivery to birth mothers who have no support person. I also work with adopting parents to help them through the hospital experience when their child is being born.
4) Why are you passionate about adoption?
I feel that I am helping children have the opportunity to live a safe, healthy and productive life.
5) What has been your most joyous or monumental memory with Thompson Dove Law Group so far?
I do not have just one. It is every time I place a newborn baby in his/her forever home.
6) Describe yourself in three words.
Passionate, committed, organized
7) What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Helping birth parents realize what a selfless thing making an adoption plan is and one they should never ever be ashamed of.
