I began with the law firm with the sole purpose of working with expectant mothers considering adoption. As I continued with the firm, I learned more and more about surrogacy and realized I loved the idea of working with gestational carriers and intended parents. I like to pretend that I just started showing up to ARTs meetings and eventually tricked Jim into letting me work on that side of the practice (like Pam from the office in deciding she was the office manager without anyone giving her the job!). After being part of the firm for almost a decade, I have a foot firmly in both the adoption side and surrogacy side of the practice.![]()

What is a favorite/most rewarding part of your job? ![]()
It certainly depends on what area of the practice I am thinking about. On the adoption side, while I love the phone calls I get to make to a hopeful waiting family letting them know they’ve been selected, the most rewarding part are the special updates I get from women I’ve worked with, whether they chose to make an adoption plan or parent their child on how life is going. It means so much to me that they thought enough about our time together to reach out and let me know how they are doing if we've lost touch after awhile. On the surrogacy side, visiting with the surrogacy and intended family after birth is so magical. The intended family is just in pure bliss all while the surrogate has reached the moment she has been pursuing for the last year (plus!) in helping make a family.![]()
